proposed fire station near elc and bms-prairie
|
The Barrington 220 Board of Education held a special meeting on Sept. 11 to discuss concerns and inform community members about the future of the property located at 36 East Dundee Rd.
The Barrington Countryside Fire Protection District recently purchased the property, which is directly adjacent to BMS-Prairie and the Early Learning Center. The BCFPD is considering building a fire station at the site.
The school district has several concerns about building a fire station at this site, including: how noise levels could disrupt the learning environment, traffic, the market value impact on neighboring properties, development concerns and whether or not the fire station is necessary because of the site's proximity to other fire stations.
Later this month, the district can submit a written objection to the Cook County Zoning Board of Appeals. Construction on the fire station could begin as early as spring 2019.
