Blessings in a Backpack
Looking to get involved to help a need in our community? Want to finish your day knowing that you've helped a hungry child? Then please volunteer to help fill bags of food for our school district's Blessings in a Backpack program. Blessings in a Backpack provides food for school children who may otherwise have little or no food to eat on weekends during the school year. Better test scores, improved reading skills, positive behavior, improved health and increased attendance have all been attributed to this program.
Every Thursday 9-10 a.m., all the elementary schools in our district get together at Sunny Hill Elementary to help pack bags in assembly-line fashion. Some volunteers may also take bags back to district schools and deliver to the front office. Hope you can make time to help feed a child!
