Student Placement for FY18 (2017-2018 school year)
Student placement at Lines is a very intentional, proactive, and child-centered process. The Lines staff puts a lot of thought into generating class lists that provide balanced groups and blends a variety of talents and needs, both academic and social.
Grade level teams work with content area teachers, special education staff, and other support staff when creating classroom lists. Dr. Hyllberg then finalizes all placement decisions.
Please see the attached letter for more information regarding student placement for next schoolyear.
Dental Exams Due May 15
Per Illinois law, students in kindergarten, second and sixth grades are required to submit proof of having a dental examination to the school. Dental exams completed between November 15, 2015 and May 15, 2017 will be accepted.
The Illinois Department of Public Health has established a waiver for children who show undue burden or lack of access to a dentist. Also, parents or legal guardians who object to dental examinations on religious grounds shall present to the school a signed detailed statement of the objection.
Please send proof of having a dental examination to the attention of Mrs. Boldt (Lines' awesome school nurse!)
A big thank you to Jen Livingston, Allison Meier, Doreen Muhs and Michelle Reesh for a fantastic movie night. From popcorn to door prizes these ladies had it covered. The kids had a blast! Thank you very much for putting this night together.
Thank you to everyone who has submitted forms and money for the 2016-2017 Lines Media Center Birthday Book Club! We had 12 participants in March. Some of the titles selected by the March birthday children were: Fly Guy's Ninja Christmas, Baby Owls, and The Classy Crooks Club.
There is still time to join the club. Look for an invitation to come home during your child's birthday month!
The time for setting up our Lines School 5th Grade Track team is here. Practices will start at 8:15 on April 12th and 13th on the Line blacktop.
There are no try-outs; however, students need to come to the scheduled practices. Each Student will have one practice a week at 8:15 morning for each event the are in. Everyone who practices will be in at least one event.
There will be a district track meet with the other elementary schools on Friday, May 26th at Barrington High School. We will take a bus to BHS and the meet will begin at 9:45. The meet is scheduled to end at 12:00 p.m. and the students will return to Lines via bus. If you have any questions please contact Mr. K or Mrs. Borgersen.
Calling all members…
Please attend the PTO meeting on April 17th at 9:15am in the MPR. We will be voting on the slate for the 2017-2018 PTO Executive Board and Committee Members.
We are still looking for someone to do Pipelines and the School Sign. Please consider donating your time to one of these committees. Both these positions are a great opportunity for working parents as well.

Place: Downtown Arlington Heights
Save the date for the fifth annual Got2Run for Education. This is a fun, exciting 2.62 mile mini marathon or 8k run/walk in beautiful downtown Arlington Heights. A sizable portion of each registration fee comes back to Lines School for our wellness initiatives. Last year, Lines School received a check for $1058.75, largely due to a huge turnout of Lines Families and Staff.
We had over 70 registered participants.
This year, we would love to break the 100 participant mark! This is a great event to cap off our Running Club season and school year! Please check out the website, http://www.got2run.org for details.
On Tuesday, May 23 at 7:30pm, Lines Class of 2017 will have their 5th Grade Memory Night. Please save the date, and if you have not submitted pictures of your 5th grader for the video presentation, please do so as soon as possible. Email photos to firstname.lastname@example.org. The deadline for photos is April 15!
5th Grade Mother-Daughter Night
Calling all 5th Grade girls and their moms!
Mark your calendars for Monday, May 8th from 6:30 - 8:00 p.m., for a "girls-only" night to discuss the physical and emotional changes that are a part of growing up. Again this year, we are honored to have a guest speaker from the Robert Crown Center for Health Education who will share valuable information on the changes to come in a fun, informative and engaging way. This year's event will be held in the beautiful Barrington Area Library Meeting Room. Don't miss the chance to treat yourself and your daughter to a unique bonding experience along with fellow Lines mothers and daughters. Invitations will be sent home after Spring Break!
