Community members weigh in on start time discussion
At its May 17 meeting, the board of education held a community conversation surrounding school start time options and ideas being considered for the 2017-18 school year.
Many ideas were discussed, including improvements in bus efficiencies and potentially re-drawing middle school boundaries. The board will continue to discuss possibilities for start times and present any new options to the community before making a final decision this fall. When approved, a change in start- and -end times will go into effect for the 2017-18 school year.
Community members who believe they have a solution to the complex start time topic that has not yet been discussed are encouraged to submit the idea here for the board's review.
Elementary concept classroom provides flexible learning space
At its May 17 meeting, the board approved a proposal to create an elementary concept classroom at Hough Street Elementary School. In order to better utilize space in the district's smallest elementary school, the open concept classroom will create space to house two sections of any grade level. Features include tables with wheels, a variety of seating and flexible room dividers. The room renovation will take place this summer.
