During the first half of 2024, the Barrington 220 Board of Education's 2024 Referendum Advisory Committee was charged with assisting the Board in identifying the key components from a list of projects to be included in a referendum question proposed for the November 5, 2024 election ballot.
The committee consisted of approximately 60 members representing all district attendance areas and grade levels, as well as members of local Barrington community organizations. Committee meetings were open to the general public, however only committee members could participate and vote.
At the June 4, 2024 Board of Education meeting, the Referendum Advisory Committee shared its final recommendation with the Board. Based on the community feedback, meetings, and facility tours that Referendum Advisory Committee members experienced February 2024 through May 2024, 77% of committee members recommended that the Board move forward with Option 3 for a referendum question in November.
