The new auxiliary gym at Barrington High School, known as The Power House, is used daily for high-intensity workouts by physical education classes and athletic teams.

The 3,000-square-foot Culinary Arts Lab at Barrington High School consists of two kitchens with professional-grade equipment. Each student cooking station has a range which includes a stovetop, oven, grill top, and flat top. In addition, the space includes an AV system that enables cameras to project what is happening at the teacher's cooking station on TV screens throughout the lab.

The new Student Services Wing at Barrington High School enables students to access services such as counseling, attendance, health services, the dean's office, and wellness in a dedicated area on the lower level of the building. This new space has improved the student experience by making it easier for students to access these services in a central location.

The newly renovated weight room at Barrington High School, known as The Iron Horse, sits adjacent to the new auxiliary gym. It is used daily by physical education classes and athletic teams. The space is nearly 1,000 square feet larger than the old weight room, which increases the flexibility of the types of exercises students can do in the space.

The new dance studio at Barrington High School, known as The Stallion Studio, is used by students participating in yoga workouts during physical education classes. In addition, the dance team and other athletic teams take advantage of this space to stretch and meet. The dance studio overlooks the new auxiliary gym.

The new cardio center at Barrington High School, known as the B Fit Zone, is used by students daily during physical education classes and athletic practices. It features commercial gym equipment, with some pieces designed specifically for accessibility. It is located next to the dance studio.

The new main entrance to Barrington High School is located off Main Street (next to the new front atrium). The updated entry vestibule ensures safety and security for all students, staff, and visitors of the building.

Approximately $67 million of the $147 million referendum is allocated to projects at BHS. This includes all construction costs and non-construction items such as safety and security, furniture, and technology. Construction at BHS began in Summer 2022. All major construction projects were completed by January 2024. Key projects include: 

  • New front atrium addition (this will be a commons area that serves as a flexible learning space, as well as a place where students can eat lunch, meet in groups, or work on individual projects) ✅
  • Existing student cafeteria renovation (Summer 2024)
  • Student Services area renovation: counseling, attendance, health services, dean’s office, wellness ✅
  • PE/Wellness interior renovation ✅
  • Renovation of existing commons to create new culinary arts lab ✅ 
  • Parking lot reconfiguration to improve traffic circulation and safety ✅
  • Renovation of Fields of Dreams and varsity baseball field ✅
  • Installation of synthetic turf for new multipurpose field ✅ 
  • Replacement and relocation of tennis courts ✅
  • Replacement of phone system with new digital system 
  • General repairs/maintenance* 
  • Safety and security improvements*  
  • Architectural design work for potential new BHS Fine Arts Center ✅
