Get to know Principal Aalfs

We are excited to welcome Jim Aalfs as the new Principal of BMS-Station! Principal Aalfs is no stranger to Barrington 220. He served as the Principal of Hough Street School for the past seven years. He also previously worked at BMS-Station as an Assistant Principal. Aalfs earned his bachelor's degree in elementary education from Judson University and a master's degree in educational leadership from Northern Illinois University.

What city were you born in?
I grew up on a farm in Marshalltown, IA, so I'm a country boy at heart!

What city do you currently live in? Tell us about your family.
I live in St. Charles. I am married to Kara and have two wonderful children, Kiersten (age 22) and Jake (age 19).

I love all things outdoors!

What is the number one item on your bucket list?
I'd like to drive a vintage car someday on Rt. 66 from Chicago to Los Angeles, preferably in MY 1970 ‘Cuda convertible (that I do not currently own)!

I'm looking forward to working with such an amazing staff and serving the students and the community.
