Get to know Principal Acosta

We are excited to welcome Michelle Acosta as the new principal of the Barrington Early Learning Center!
For the past three years, Principal Acosta worked as assistant principal and summer school principal at Sunny Hill Elementary School. Prior to working in Barrington 220, Principal Acosta worked in Palatine District 15 as an assistant principal, school psychologist, and special education case manager. Before moving to Illinois in 2010, she worked as a school psychologist and early childhood teacher in Iowa.
"I am thrilled and excited to partner with teachers, staff, and the community to build strong foundations for our youngest learners in Barrington," Principal Acosta said. "Although these times are unprecedented, I am confident through collaboration and hard work we will get through it together and stronger than ever."
Principal Acosta received her Bachelor's of Science in Psychology from the University of Illinois, a Master's of Education and Educational Specialist degree in School Psychology from National Louis University, and a Master's of Education in School Administration & Leadership from Concordia University.

What city do you currently live in? Tell us about your family.
I currently live in Lincolnshire, IL. My family is from Beach Park, IL and my parents currently reside there. I have three younger brothers and we are a very close family. My parents immigrated to the U.S. in 1983 from Honduras. My parents are extremely hardworking and have always valued the importance of education and a strong work ethic.

I love to travel, exercise, and spend time with family and friends.

What is the number one item on your bucket list?
I would love to travel the world and visit Greece, Italy and Spain. I’ve traveled a great deal in North America, Central America and surrounding Caribbean islands.
