The Class of '81 40th Reunion began on Friday evening with informal get togethers among classmates at local watering holes, including the Yankee Doodle Inn. Friday night is typically the "warm up" night for our class gatherings. We were pleasantly surprised when Vince Bradshaw showed up and managed to remember virtually everyone despite not having seen many of us in 40+ years.
Saturday morning began a full day of activities for the Class of '81 as a contingent of classmates arrived at the train station in order to load onto Jeff Sanfillipos flatbed trailer, pulled once again by Tim Hermann as we participated in the Homecoming parade and enjoyed singing the fight song and other cheers as we made our way through town.
We congregated at Chessies for "tailgating" and catching up with other classmates and alums from other classes while enjoying the beers, bloody's and food in the parking lot. Quite a few people departed to the high school for the Broncos game.
Saturday evening, our "official" Reunion took place at Moretti's. The staff was incredibly helpful in helping with our set up and provided excellent service and food/drink throughout the evening. The format of the night was designed to maximize interaction, allowing people to go from table to table, and throughout the room to catch up with old friends. Thanks go out to Jodi Suson for creating a wonderful slide show which allowed people to remember just how much younger we all were back in high school.
The sign of a great evening is when your sides hurt from laughing and the manager reminds you that your group has exceeded its time slot by over an hour. It was a terrific evening organized by Mike Bentle, Julie Walden Schawarzenberg and Art Nicholas. Thanks also go out to John Whaley and his wife Christie, who took an amazing number of great pictures throughout the weekend.
We missed those classmates who could not join us and appreciated those '81ers who did, especially those who traveled cross country to join us. Click here for photos from the weekend!
