Early College Credit, also called Dual Credit, is a concurrent enrollment partnership between a college and high school district that gives eligible students the opportunity to earn college credit while completing high school graduation requirements.

The mission of Barrington 220's Elementary STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) Program is to empower our students to become innovative designers, knowledge constructors, global collaborators, and digital citizens.

Fine arts instruction begins at the elementary level with weekly experiences in general music and visual arts, and continues throughout elementary school. During middle school, instruction in drama, band, orchestra, choir and visual arts is offered to students, alongside after school arts opportunities.

By the end of their time in Barrington 220, approximately 1,400 high school students a year narrow their art focus at BHS, taking classes in areas such as dance, TV production, theater, choir, instrumental music, ceramics, woodworking, digital arts, graphic design, photography, drawing and painting, and jewelry making.

Barrington 220 is proud to offer a plethora of language opportunities for all students. Barrington values greatly and understands the benefits that being bilingual and/or multilingual can offer our students as we prepare them to be contributing members to our global world. The language opportunities we offer have a positive effect on our students intellectual growth, problem solving, and creative thinking skills. We pride ourselves on being able to both enrich and enhance each students educational experience with our many language opportunities.

Barrington 220 offers special language programs, which begin in kindergarten. These programs include: Chinese Immersion, Spanish Dual Language and One Way Immersion for Spanish-speaking English Language Learners.

Students who are not enrolled in any of those programs can begin taking world language classes in 6th grade. They can choose from five languages which include: Mandarin, Spanish, French, German and Latin. Courses for all five languages are available in grades 6-12. Please watch this video for detailed information on how to choose a language that is appropriate for your student.

Barrington 220 students will develop the ability to independently create meaning from a wide range of sources and texts and will use these new understandings to become more skillful, confident, and critical readers, writers, and communicators.

A successful Barrington 220 mathematics student will be able to use mathematics content and mathematical habits of mind to become confident critical thinkers and persistent problem solvers.

The Barrington 220 science curriculum is aligned to the Next Generation Science Standards and follows the National Research Council's Framework for K-12 Science Education's vision for proficiency in science learning. The standards for all grade levels encompass each of the three dimensions

Barrington 220 students will develop the ability to independently read, write, think, and speak through rigorous and authentic learning experiences that incorporate a wide range of sources and texts. Students will become active and informed citizens of a democratic society who understand multicultural, national, and global perspectives.
