The D220 SEPAC offers collaboration between the district, families, and the community to support students with disabilities, while fostering an atmosphere of partnership and mutual respect. It provides the district feedback on programs and services, helps parents advocate for their children, and provides a network for sharing information to improve educational outcomes. Parents' unique perspectives help enhance the effectiveness of the district's services.

The D220 SEPAC envisions a learning environment where all students have access to high-quality education to achieve their full potential. We are committed to identifying and addressing the diverse needs of our student population through collaboration, advocacy, and ongoing education with families, community members, and educators. The D220 SEPAC supports the district's mission of empowering personal excellence in every learner.

The D220 SEPAC will promote the understanding of and respect for the inclusion of children with disabilities, while improving outcomes within academic settings and in the larger community. The D220 SEPAC will work to further two goals:

1. Communication

  • Advise the Assistant Superintendent of Student Services and Support on operations and development of special education programs, training needs for educators, students, and families, and related policy.
  • Enhance timely and relevant two-way communication among all D220 stakeholders.
  • Promote the interest of Student Services families regarding matters that come before D220.
  • Seek opportunities to understand student perspectives and voice as they relate to special education.

2. Collaboration

  • Participate in the development of priorities and strategies for meeting the identified needs of children with 504 and IEPs.
  • Provide or suggest informational forums and training to families, educators, students, and other related professionals.
  • Work with the D220 Student Services department to address and problem-solve systemic issues affecting students with 504s and IEPs and their families.
  • Provide an avenue for parents/guardians of students with 504s and IEPs and the Student Services Department to share opportunities and strengths.
