Assistant Superintendent of Schools
As Assistant Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Josh Carpenter oversees the district's multi-year strategic plan initiative, Framework 220. In addition, he oversees student performance and school improvement for all grade levels, supervises all elementary principals and programs, assists all principals (PreK-12+) with daily school operations, facilitates Board of Education initiatives, oversees the district's Safety 220 initiative, and serves as a community liaison to various organizations such as BStrong Together, Barrington Park District, Barrington Area Library, PTO President’s Council, etc.
Dr. Carpenter joined Barrington 220 from Elgin U-46, where he worked as the Assistant Superintendent of Teaching and Learning. He previously worked as the Executive Director of Student Growth and Accountability at U-46 and the Director of Math and Talent Development at Community Consolidated School District 59. Before transitioning to district administrator positions, he was a Principal in Palatine CCSD 15 and Lincolnshire-Prairie View School District 103. Dr. Carpenter began his career as a Language Arts and History teacher in Palatine CCSD 15. He holds a bachelor's degree in History from Elmhurst College, a master's degree in Education Leadership and Administration from North Central College, and a doctorate in Educational Leadership from Aurora University.
Dr. Carpenter resides in Lake Zurich with his family.
