Meet Dr. Lisa West

  • At the June 1, 2021 Board of Education meeting, the Board approved Dr. Lisa West as the new principal of North Barrington Elementary School. Dr. West comes to Barrington 220 from Woodland School District 50 where she served as Principal of Woodland Intermediate School for the past year and previously served five years as the Principal of Woodland Elementary School. Prior to joining Woodland School District 50, Dr. West worked as a 5th and 6th grade teacher for Glencoe District 35. She holds a doctorate in Educational Leadership and a master's degree in Educational Leadership from Concordia University. She holds a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from Iowa State University. 

    "I am looking forward to the first day of school and building personal relationships with students, staff and families," Dr. West said. "I look forward to being part of the NBS family. Thank you to everyone who has been so welcoming. I can’t wait to get started!"

    Dr. West was born in Marshalltown, Iowa. She currently lives in Wauconda with her husband and two fur babies named Murray and Finn. Dr. West and her husband met in Chicago and just celebrated 11 years of marriage. They love Las Vegas, Michigan State and Iowa State, the Pittsburgh Steelers, and eating BBQ, as well as chips and salsa. They also enjoy watching baseball games with their neighbors who have boys on travel teams. In addition, Dr. West has a huge sweet tooth. "I truly believe my chocolate chip cookies are the best in Lake County!" Dr. West said. She loves to dance and has been known to dance it out in moments when she is trying to work something out or has low energy.
