Elementary Online Summer School
We greatly appreciated your support as we launched distance learning in response to the COVID Pandemic this spring. Based on positive feedback from parents, students, and teachers, we will continue to offer distance learning opportunities to students throughout the summer months. There are two opportunities offered for your child(ren) to engage in summer coursework. This webpage shares detailed information about the traditional summer school program (listed under Elementary Summer School) and the new 220 BOSS (Barrington Online Summer School) course offerings. **Please note that more information will be sent to Sunny Hill & Dual Language families about Jump Start I/Dual Language and Jump Start II.
Traditional Elementary Summer School:
Incoming kindergarten through fifth grade Barrington 220 students have an opportunity to register for summer courses that offer enrichment learning opportunities through a distance learning model. Students will engage with their teacher and classmates through live online teaching experiences and will also have flexibility to complete activities and projects on their own. Summer school runs from Monday, June 8, 2020 - Thursday, July 2, 2020. There is no school on Fridays. Students can register for up to two courses. Session One courses will have live video conferencing between 8AM -10 AM. Session Two courses will have live video conferencing between 10:00AM -12:00PM. The elementary summer school course catalog details the course offerings and grade level requirements for students. Registration for traditional elementary summer school courses can be accessed by clicking this link.
220BOSS (Barrington Online Summer School): (NEW THIS YEAR!)
Current first through fifth grade Barrington 220 students can engage in a unique learning opportunity to extend and enrich their learning via online classes during the summer. Courses focus on enriched learning activities integrating many subject areas. Online summer school is not replacing traditional summer school offerings, but is an additional opportunity available to families. Families may participate in both traditional and online summer school. Although 220BOSS courses were designed for online learning, many of the activities and lessons include hands-on activities at home, not necessarily using technology. The complete 220BOSS online course catalog details the course offerings, grade level, and which sessions each course is offered. Registration for 220BOSS courses can be accessed by clicking this link. Session I runs from June 8, 2020 - July 2, 2020. Session II runs from July 16, 2020 - August 6, 2020. There is no class on Fridays. Students can enroll in up to two courses per session.
