Happy Cinco de Mayo to you all! The flurry of May is here and with this flurry comes lots of excitement in the building. The year is coming to a close, but not without numerous activities and of course the ABC countdown. Make sure to keep an eye on the calendar for all the events that are happening here at NBS. Tomorrow is the Awesome 80's Fun Run so come out and join us to kick off your weekend with a fun family event.
MAP and CogATTest results from our district assessments will be sent home today in the students backpacks. If you have any questions please make sure to contact your child(s) teacher. Overall the students did a fantastic job and their efforts in class are truly paying off.Summer SchoolSummer school takes place at Roslyn Road from June 5-29. The format has changed this year with classes being held Monday-Thursday each week. Please take a look at the brochure on-line at all the great choices that are being offered. This is a great opportunity for our students to stay engaged over the summer and continue the progress that they this year. Summer School
Teacher AppreciationI want to thank all the volunteers that made every staff member feel like an All-Star this week. From the decorations on the door to the snacks that were provided we all felt very special. A special thank you to Stacey Laschen and Katie Grimm for their efforts and making this an awesome week.IPA Student Recognition BreakfastCongratulations to Travis Soto and Kaitlyn Witas for representing North Barrington at an annual recognition event at Vernon Hills High School. Students are recognized for their character, leadership and service to the school. Over 70 Lake County Schools were in attendance to celebrate students and I was very happy to be there with these two students to represent NBS.
Kindness CarnivalThe Kindness Carnival was a huge success last Friday. Students were able to redeem the horseshoes that they earned for being responsible, respectful and safe throughout the building. The students have been working towards this positive incentive for the past few months. At the event students were able to play fun games and spin the wheel for a chance to win a prize. This included a chance to have lunch with the Principal.

Please visit the Park District website to register for this program that we are very excited to host. The sooner you get registered the better. Please see the attached picture for more details. We will also compete against each other within the building. The class that wins will earn an extra recess and fruit popsicles.
