    5 Essentials
    5 Essentials
"How does our school rank according to the Illinois 5Essentials questionnaire? Parents, this is your opportunity to evaluate North Barrington  according to five “essential” areas critical for school success, including but not limited to ambitious instruction, supportive environment, and leadership. The online survey is open through January 13, 2017. Click here to take this short but valuable survey.  PLEASE NOTE: Because Barrington 220 is based in Lake County, choose "Lake" from the county drop down menu, then select our school.

Illinois public schools are required by the State of Illinois to take the 5Essentials survey once every two years. The survey data becomes part of each school’s Illinois School Report Card listing, which is a public website provided by the Illinois State Board of Education. Barrington 220 will receive results from the survey in the spring of 2017, and they will be publicly posted on our Illinois School Report Card the following fall.

Thank you for your participation in this important survey. We appreciate and value your feedback."

    Playground/Recess Rules
    Playground Rules
The snow is here and so is winter.  With that being said, I wanted to send out the playground/recess rules.  The most important thing to remember is that students need to have the appropriate attire to play in the snow.  We will continue to go outside unless it gets below zero.  Please help us continue the message of being responsible, respectful and safe on the playground.  The link provided will take you to the Playground Rules.  Also the bin of lost and found is overflowing.  We will be laying the clothes out over the next couple of weeks.  Please come in and search for anything you may be missing.  Anything left after December 22nd will be donated.

Thank you for sending in your batteries, crayons and markers for recycling.  We recycled 42 pounds worth of batteries, a box full of crayons and a box full of markers.    With this success, we have decided to continue our battery, crayon and marker recycling efforts.  The boxes are located next to the ‘Oops’ table right outside of the front office.

For the holiday season, we will be collecting old/non-working string lights.  There will be a box next to batteries for you to place the lights in.  If you have any questions or suggestions please contact gogreennbscolts@gmail.com

    Responsible, Respectful, Safe
This is a challenging time of year with behavior caused by the excitement that comes with the holidays, snow and winter break looming in studnts minds. We continue to emphasize positive behavior and choices throughout the building.  Students understand this language and also know that they can earn horseshoes when they exhibit positive behavior and go above and beyond expectations.  To celebrate students positive behavior, we will have a horseshoe hoedown on December 20th.  Each student needs 25 horseshoes to attend for the 40 minute time slot for their grade level.  The students that do not have enough may attend but for a shorter amount of time based on the horseshoes they have earned.   Please help by encouraging the students to exhibit the responsible, respectful, safe behavior at school and at home.  Our behavior matrix can be found at the link provided.

    Start Times
In early November the board of education made its decision about start times for the 2017-2018 school year.  Please take a few minutes to watch the Start Time Video for information about the new start times at each level.
