    Parent-Teacher Conferences

Parent-teacher conferences take place twice each year -- once in October and once in March. The October conferences will be held October 19th from 4:00-8:00 PM and October 20th from 1:00-8:00 PM. Conferences are scheduled in 20-minute time slots. Please use the link that is attached to schedule your conference time.  If you have any questions or need help with this process, call the front office.  The link will close on October 12th.

Halloween is a very exciting time for students.  It offers an opportunity to celebrate the season with creativity and offers everyone a chance to come together and celebrate as a community.  It can also be a scary time for some of our students so the costumes should be school appropriate.
Please remember the following rules for Halloween at school:
-All students should come to school with their costume in a bag.  They will be given time to change at school.
-Masks are not permitted.  They may be part of the costume but we need to be able to identify all students at all times.
-Face paint is not allowed.  Students should save the face painting and colored hair for after school and any family festivities. (Sometimes these sprays and paints contain elements that effect the health of students)
-No weapons are permitted even if they are prop weapons and are part of the costume.  They need to stay at home.
-Please refrain from any scary, gory and frightening costumes. These can have a major impact on some of our younger students and on your Principal:)  If you have questions about a costume feel free to contact me.
Students will parade around the school on Monday, October 31st, weather permitting. Parents are welcome to line the perimeter of the building as the students walk in the parade.  The parade will begin around 1:45 p.m.  The parties in the classroom will follow the parade.  If you will be attending you need to RSVP so we can have a name badge ready for you to wear that day.  PTO will be sending this RSVP out to everyone.
Parking will be available on the grass lot East of the school and on the Miller Road Property.  Please make sure that you use these areas and refrain from parking on Grandview.

    End of day procedures
    Car Line
As you all know the end of the day can be a hectic time.  We are continuously looking at our procedures to make sure they are in the best interest of our students.  One slight change that we are making is to release the students directly to their buses. With this new procedure is resulting in the buses leaving campus approximately 5 minutes earlier.  However we do need your help with one of our procedures.  If you need to make an alternate arrangement for pick-up at the end of the day, such as having your student ride the bus or go to circle drive pick-up, we need to have that information prior to 3:15 PM on regular hour days and 2:45 on Wednesdays.  This will greatly help the front office and the teachers in getting your children to the correct place at the end of the day.

    iPad Update
Since the One to World parent meetings, an exciting new development has become available. It is now possible for parents to set up restrictions directly on district-owned iPads. By following a few simple steps, parents can easily limit adult content on their child's iPad, as well as set up the iPad to block specific websites.

While at school, the district’s web filters will remain in effect. However, if your home does not have web filtering in place, these settings will allow parents to set up restrictions on the iPad that be in effect outside of school.

    Food Recovery Program at NBS
Eat, Take, Think, Place.  This is some common language that will be used with your students here at NBS. We certainly want to promote students to eat what they bring and only take food home if they can.  We would like them to think before they throw it away and place any unopened or uneaten items aside. Extra food that is collected will be donated to Cuba Township Food Pantry.  We will tally how much food is donated each week to the pantry and keep this tally available for our students to see in the cafeteria.
