An updated Extended Services Handbook (2019) has been published to reflect the Acceleration Act, our program philosophy, the established operational definition, and inclusive student identification criterion. We continue to provide an Extended Services Program that is of high quality and is inclusive of all students in the district through a comprehensive, universal screening process each spring in grades 2-7 (placement into services in grades 3-8; 9 math) the following fall. A fall review also occurs for all new students to the district in grades 3-8 for a potential placement in the late fall (see handbook or website).
Please utilize this handbook as a resource to learn more about our continuum of Extended Services in Barrington District 220. Keep in mind, these services are considered an extension of the learning for high ability learners whose needs cannot be met through the core curriculum. Enrichment and acceleration are paramount to the learning.
