Community
invited for coffee and conversation April 10
To better understand local viewpoints and concerns, the Board of Education will host a casual community conversation
April 10 at the Barrington Area
Library from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Business owners, taxpayers and residents - especially those
without school-age children - are invited for informal conversations and to have a cup of coffee and ask questions of
Superintendent of
Schools Tom Leonard and members of the Barrington 220 Board of Education.

BHS student IT campaign raises $17,111 for Giving Day
The third-annual IT campaign was again successful at Barrington High School. Through a variety of activities, food sales,
competitions and auctions, students raised over $17,000 for the 2012 campaign recipient, Barrington Giving Day.
Donations this year increased approximately $5,000 over previous fundraisers. Students and staff are congratulated
for combining their creative efforts to help support local charities.

Lincoln-Douglas
Debate Team members earn state honors
Madeline Cheek, Bo Donoghue and Anna-Terese Losurdo all earned impressive awards and accolades in the recent Illinois State
Lincoln-Douglas Debate Tournament. Among their honors, Cheek was the Novice State Champion and Donoghue was the Junior Varsity
Illinois State Champion and Third-Place Speaker. The students and their teammates are coached at Barrington High school by Dan
Affleck.

Language
program options still open for students next year
Improving
financial variables coupled with a commitment by the Board of Education will enable expansion of the Spanish Dual
Language program into the middle schools and allowed approval by Board members to continue the Chinese Immersion
program beyond this school year. Parents considering Chinese Immersion for their child can find details on the program
and the extended
enrollment deadline at barrington220.org. Information on the
Spanish Dual Language program is also updated frequently at
