Students Explore the Origins of Theater

BHS THEATER STUDENTS TRAVEL TO GREECE DURING SPRING BREAK

During spring break, Drama Club sponsors, Lisa Southern and Amy Jessup-Tilford along with eleven students went on their first overseas theater trip to Greece. During their visit, they toured the most famous and most preserved ancient theater, the theater Epidaurus. With its optimal acoustics, sophomore, Emma Ferguson was able to perform Puck's monologue from A Midsummer Night's Dream from the orchestra while the rest of the group watched from the seats high above her. The group also explored the ancient ruins in Olympia where the first Olympics took place. The entire group even ran the length of the Olympic field just as the ancient Olympians did in the past. But the biggest highlight for the group was walking up to the Acropolis high above the city of Athens. Its panoramic views were breathtaking.
