PoliciesHomework PolicyHomework will be always be posted on the dry-erase board and reviewed before lunch and at the end of the day. Students will always be given ample time to write their homework in their planners and ask questions to clarify an assignment. Homework will be due the day after it is assigned unless otherwise posted on the dry-erase board. Students will generally have homework each night. Students should read 20-30 min. each night. They also should practice their math facts and spelling words. Typically a math worksheet will come home as well. Occasionally other will work will come home as needed. Any unfinished work in your child's working folder will come home Friday to finish. If your child is consistently spending an extensive amount of time on homework, or never seems to have any at all, please let me know immediately so that we can remedy the situation. Absence PolicyIf a student is absent, he will have 2 days per each day missed to complete homework. In other words, if a student is out on Mon. and Tues., he will have 4 days to make-up the work missed. It is the student's responsibility to turn in late work. I will not ask for it. As per district policy, teachers d. o not provide make-up work before extended non-district holidays. Late WorkStudents are expected to turn in work on time. Late work should be turned in as soon as possible. Occasionally students may have to miss recess to make up late work. Students who have many late assignments will meet with the teacher and parents to work out an intervention plan. BirthdaysPer the wellness plan, there we will not celebrate birthdays with food treats of any kind. In addition, students are not allowed to bring in items to pass out to the class. We will recognize each child's birthday in class. We will sing Happy Birthday, discuss his plans, and then play a short game of the child's choice. He will also get to pick a birthday pencil and birthday book. SnacksDue to the late lunch hour, students are encourage to bring in a healthy snack each day. The snack should be easy to eat and include any needed utensils. Peanuts or peanut butter snacks are prohibited due to allergies. In addition, your child may keep a water bottle on his desk. Please do not send pop, Gatorade, or other drinks.
