LINES LOVE LITERACY!!!
“Our brightest blazes of gladness are commonly kindled by unexpected sparks.”
Have you ever received a sudden and unexpected piece of good fortune? It is an incredible feeling and can only lead to a great and positive outcome. Good fortune has come our way!
This year a Lines family that loves our school and supports literacy has issued an overwhelmingly generous challenge to our school. This family will donate up to $15,000 to the Lines Literacy Library if we as a community do our part and meet this challenge. This donation inspired our Lines community to READ and to GIVE. Our $15,000 challenge was successfully met through two different challenges: “Links for Literacy” and “Literacy Legacy”. We can be proud that we raised enough to finish our Book Room which will be utilized by ALL of the students at Lines!
Our Literacy Book Room is Complete!!!!
- 5,000+ books were read during the "Links for Literacy Challenge" which equated to $1/book from a generous Lines Family
- $10,500 was raised through the "Literacy Legacy Challenge" and the sale of personalized tiles
- $15,000 was donated by a generous Lines Family
- 5,805 more books than last year were checked out from the Lines Media Center - students' excitement about reading is growing!
“LINKS FOR LITERACY”
Through this challenge the school community read OVER 5,000 books, raising $5,000 for the LIteracy Room! Each book that was read by a student, teacher, family member or staff member earned a paper link which equated to a $1 donation from our generous donor. The links were connected into a paper chain and remain displayed throughout Lines School!
“LITERACY LEGACY”
The "Literacy Legacy" challenge provided Lines families the opportunity to make a donation to promote reading at Lines and leave their lasting mark on the school through the "wall of appreciation". Our Lines families donated over $10,000 which was matched by the Lines' donor family! For every $75 that was donated, families earned the opportunity to paint a tile that will hang prominently in the newly decorated main entryway of the school. The new tile wall will be installed over the summer near the main office.
