So, what do you think?

Dear Colleague:
On this election day, millions of citizens are registering their opinion of who they
believe should be America’s next president. Perhaps by the time you read this e-
newsletter, all votes will have been counted and the decision made.
In the Barrington 220 School District, there are many decisions still to come
this year as we embark on our most ambitious and important strategic planning
initiative since 2001. In this comprehensive process, the Board of Education
has commissioned a number of public opinion surveys to learn where our community
stands on several diverse issues. Topics ranging from financial performance, facilities,
academic achievement, instructional quality, communication and many more are under
scrutiny as we look creatively to the future.
As part of this “listening” project, the Board of Education and I are very interested
in employees’ feelings about the state of our school district. What are your thoughts
about your working conditions, the quality of our organizational culture, the contributions
you make to our learning and service environment, and the recognition you receive for your
efforts? We care about your opinions and we need your feedback to make informed decisions
about the future.
Would you please take a few minutes to complete a concise, CONFIDENTIAL, online staff
survey?
You can access the survey here,
which allows you to input your responses to a private research company that is compiling
and keeping the data. You only have until Wednesday, Nov. 12, to take the survey, so please respond today
– and remind your coworkers to participate, too, via this e-newsletter. The more staff who participate,
the more reliable our data will be.
The preliminary results of this research, as well as those from a broad survey of community
residents, will be presented to the Board of Education on Nov. 18 and communicated to all
staff soon after. I hope you will contribute your confidential opinions to this valuable
and objective study.
Sincerely, Tom
