Morning met the high school with sad news of another student death
.

.
Dear Parents and Community:
Barrington High School officials were notified
in the early morning hours today that a student was killed after being struck by a Metra train shortly after midnight. Junior Daniel Black will be missed by his
classmates, teachers and family.
Words cannot convey the disbelief and heartache
we feel from this loss. The life of every student is precious. Our high school staff is devoted to the emotional needs of every young person. When working with
students in our care, we try to partner with families and community resources. Still, regardless of our best efforts, we are saddened such tragedies continue to
occur.
The second death of a student in less than one
month leaves the high school community grasping for a response to this sad series of circumstances, despite ongoing and proactive programs to protect those in our
care.
As with previous incidents, students and staff
today received immediate support from Barrington 220 social workers and psychologists as well as area counselors. The Guidance Resource Center at the high school
remains open for anyone who needs help to process this news.
I know you join us in expressing condolences
for Daniel and his family. We are embracing all students today during this time of sorrow. Please do the same for your child when he or she returns home this
afternoon.
Sincerely, Tom Leonard
