Dear Community:
As you may already know, an outbreak of swine
flu has caused the U.S. to issue a public health emergency as a precautionary measure. Although there are no known cases in our community or in the State of
Illinois, we are doing everything possible to protect the health of our students and staff and to limit the potential spread of this illness.
School nurses are staying informed and
monitoring the situation every day. In addition, our various staff have received guidelines to help them be even more vigilant in preventing the spread of germs.
For your benefit, attached are details about swine flu prepared by Barrington 220 Nursing Supervisor, Eva Detloff. This comprehensive overview from Eva provides
useful health tips and links to reputable Websites with the latest updates on swine flu.
Let me assure you, the health and well-being of
students and staff is our top priority in Barrington 220. We will do everything possible to address the situation and to be prepared should the spread of swine flu
escalate into Illinois. With your assistance, we can avoid this possibility in our schools by working together to keep students and staff healthy.
Please refer to the attached document and feel free to contact Eva Detloff or your school nurse if you have any questions or concerns.
Sincerely, Tom Leonard
