Countryside School is located at 205 W. Country Line Road (at the corner of Brinker and County Line Roads) in Barrington Hills, Illinois, just 3 miles west of Barrington High School. Countryside School serves the kindergarten through 5th grade communities of Barrington, Barrington Hills, Fox River Grove, and Lake Barrington. Countryside School is one of eight elementary schools located in Barrington Community Unit School District 220.
Countryside School was organized in 1942 with the consolidation of seven one-room schools under the Illinois Consolidated Schools Act. The consolidation of country schools resulted in one teacher per two grades - a considerable improvement over one teacher for all eight grades. A new building was constructed in 1950 accommodating eight grades of the district. The building was razed during 2000 to make room for the construction of a new building. The current Countryside School was built in 2001-2002 and opened its doors to students in September 2002. |
